Purchased a Micro Tuner in 2004. My F150 went to the shop for the 30000 mile checkup and the memory was reflashed. The Micro Tuner does not work and SUPERCHIPS wants a proven receipt to reprogram the Micro Tuner.
IF you do not have a receipt they will ask you to pay 200.00 for reprogramming. Also they blame FORD for improving there onboard computer. This company I recommend staying clear.
That sucks.. the good news is you can now get your self the Edge I had the diablo predator on three diffrent F-150's and thought it was the best until I picked up the Edge.best price is DisountPowerParts
I dont see anything wrong with their policy. You should have detuned the truck before it hit the dealership (I always do), to avoid this very problem. I think it even states in the manual that you received with the product, that they will not cover reflashes...so even offering to do it for $200 is more than I would expect. Live and learn.
I always detune the truck prior to returning the truck to the dealership due to possible warranty issues.
The dealership had an update to the computer at my 30000 mile check up so they reflashed the computer. This should not impact the tuner, but it does. I do not agree with Superchips business model to get another 200.00 every time FORD updates the computer. So now I have a Tuner that is not compatable with my truck.
SUPERCHIPS=MIRCOSOFT. Milk the consumer with extra charges on updates. Sounds familiar. I am putting my 2 cents in to help my fellow consumer not purchase this product. Hopefully I can persuade potential consumers to go elsewhere so I am not at a total loss of 400.00.
SUPERCHIPS can you feel the pain. I have other post elsewhere to warn people.....

Just to be clear are you saying that the truck was put back to stock tune before it went to the dealer, and now the tuner will not work after the dealer reflashed the PCM?
Can it read codes or function at all? Have you found others who have the same issue? Is it possible that the dealer damaged the connector on your truck or is this a known issue?
If a reflash did indeed render the tuner useless does this affect other brands of tuners? I don't want to start the chip vs. tuner war but in this particular situation would a chip be affected also?
This is the first time that I've heard of this. Superchips has had a good reputation as far as I am aware. Does the place where you brought the tuner have a record of the sale by chance?
If the tuner needs to be upgrade maybe there's a way to pay for this one if they assure you that any future events like this will be covered by them. Then again if you're like me once you get a bad taste in your mouth it doesn't matter. I hope you can find a customer sevice rep that can help you out there, if not this is an issue worth considering when selecting a tuner. Good Luck.

Anyway you could go back to the dealer and get your original code put back in, then plug in the tuner so it see's the original program, then save it and reflash the computer again?
I think they are saying that you need your original reciept to show them it was a legitimate purchase before they will tune after the reflash. In their defense, I had a F250 Diesel with the SCMT and they re-tuned mine 5 times for just the cost of the shipping 12.50. Problem I had was not the Tuner it was the 6.0 in the truck. Now Have a F150 5.4 with Edge EVO because I wanted to try something new. IMO

This is the first time that I've heard of this. Superchips has had a good reputation as far as I am aware. Does the place where you brought the tuner have a record of the sale by chance? I DO NOT REMEMBER THE ONLINE STORE THAT I PURCHASED THE TUNER TWO YEARS AGO.
blkFRDf1504x4lar2004, if you paid with a credit card it could be possible to pull that transaction and have them mail a copy to you. This may be enough proof for Superchips to assist you.
I tried looking into this, but my credit card only holds a years worth of transactions. 2004 transaction out of the question
I might be mistaken on this but I would think that a CC company would at a minimum hold all transactions for at least 7 years if not longer. I cant see any reason for them to only hold it for a year.
