Its a credit union and I went online to see how far my transaction went to, it was only a year.
The point is I should not need a receipt for a product that I own. And Superchips should have built there product better so they do not have to update constantly. What a waste of time on both the consumer and the company. I am sure the company is losing money because there engineers missed this detail on vehical upgrades.
1. When a tuner is made it is loaded with all the Ford tunes available to Superchips at the time. In two years Ford is going to come up with a lot of new codes for a computer. How can you possibly expect Superchips to write support for tunes that don't even exist when the tuner is made?
2. Superchips warrants tuners sold through authorized channels only to the original purchaser. Their warranty is clear about this and its common to many companies. Its to prevent black market and eBay sales which violate MAP pricing policies. So, you need a receipt to show (a) you are the original purchaser and (b) you purchased it from an authorized dealer
I understand you're mad.... but this isn't their fault in the least.
Just because it only goes back a year online doesnt mean they do not have the records somewhere. My bank only keeps online records for a year also...but I know damn well that if I need a copy of a check I wrote 4 years ago I can get it. Trust me...They have the records somewhere just call and ask.
I agree with Ken Payne 2 posts above. Its not only Superchips, almost EVERY tuner company will want proof that the unit is not grey market before they support it. If you had gotten the tuner from a company like MotorHaven or many of the other real dealers, you would be able to contact them and have them get in between SuperChips and you. If any of our customers has a problem and they call me first, I normally will always call the manufacturer and explain the issue from a dealers perspective and get a name of a person that I can refer the customer to. That way when the customer contacts the company rep or tech guy...they are already very aware of the particular issue, they know its coming from a dealer, and the customer gets the royal treatment. There are a few here that I have done this for and we have always gotten 100% support and backing from manufacturers. Try to think of where you got this tuner, and try having them do the initial leg work for you...its considered good customer support from my point of view. My job is to not only sale you the parts you want, but to be here for you after the sale to help keep you happy and hope that the next time you buy or hear a pal talking af getting aftermarket parts that you will only want to see the deal going thru us because of the service we delivered before, during, and after the sale. The personal touch....
Good luck, and I hope you can remember where you made that deal on the tuner, it may solve most of your current issues.
I am just making people aware of the CONS in purchasing a tuner, especially SUPERCHIPS. I am not aware of DiabloSport Predator tuner having the customer updating there tuner after an update to the vehicals computer utilizing the send me back to product so I can update method for a cost or no cost with receipt. This method on sending the product back for an update is an inconvience. I the Pedator can update on the computer.
I am not happy with Superchips and wish someone warned me about purchasing this product so I could have gone elsewhere.
i had to have mine updated last year so i could sell it cost me $25 no big deal superchips is not a rip off. i just called them up told them what i wanted to do he said no big deal i dont see how it could cost u $200. all this thing is is a computer program how many updates have u done on your pc? so why would you not want to update your pcm on the truck i would call them back and be nice and ask again. where did you get it from?
My truck had its first flash at 30000 miles. I have owned this truck and tuner for 2 years. Now the tuner does not work. SUPERCHIPS COMPANY IS A RIP OFF in my opinion. I do not like there policy on having proof of receipt to reprogram there product. They should guarantee there product works. I guess I can do some 4 wheeling on there product and post it as a commercial for Superchips...
this could have happened with any tuner, not superchips.... also a good example of why you should keep ALL of your recipets and old CC bills....it has gotten me out of more than a few jams
i dont understand why your hammering on a company for not wanting to give you their programming without proof you purchased the item....why dont you try calling your cc company and see if you can get a record?

This bashing would have not happen if Superchips took my tuner and fixed it. They need to stand by there product 100% rather than causing unnecessary road blocks.

Good points, but I have not seen the other manufactors (i.e. predator, SCT or EDGE) create this problem. As for the black market and ebay sales, I can't help them when someone steals there merchandise from the factory and sells them undermarket. As for someone selling there used product, the warranty should still exist on the product because they already got there money. Same as you selling your used car, the warranty is still there.

Reason: misspelled word
I would just bring my vehicle back to the dealership and tell them to undo the computer mods they did as you didn't authorize it ....if they un mod the computer chances are the tuner will work again...would you be satisfied if that was the case?
I will probably try, because there was nothing wrong with the performance. It was only the 30000 mile checkup. I used the tuner for my 35" tires. Now the new flash has my truck dragging.....I will probably get the Predator. Superchips lost my business.
How do you even view the company as a rip-off because they would like a receipt showing you purchased it from them, not off Ebay or something? The only problem seems to be your lack of receipt. Ever go into the store and not be able to return something without a receipt? There is a point to all that. Like where I work they offer lifetime brake pads so after you get first brake job pads are free after that. The customer needs a receipt to prove that even if it is 5 years later. Or we would just be putting free pads on for anyone who walks into the shop. Badmouthing a company everywhere on the Internet because you do not have a receipt is hardly fair. It's understandable that you are mad but it is not the fault of the company. I can think of a bunch of places that the same thing could happen with. You aren't badmouthing Ford up and down for reflashing the computer and making truck drag
i agree...the reason superchips is asking for a reciept is for proof of purchase....if companies didint do this....then icoudl get a gallon of supertech oil, use it then fill it back up with used oil and return it to walmart and say it came like that.
your mind seems to already be made up but i guarantee if this same thing happened with naother company the results would be the same as with superchips...how do they know you didnt steal the programmer and you just want it programmed so you can use it in your truck
