I own a superchip tuner and have been happy with it. My take on this.........
IF the truck was returned to stock and the tuner is as it came when purchased then SuperChips should update it for free IMO. They can tell if the programming is put back to stock, and if it is, they KNOW their tuning is not on any vehicle as you can only tune one vehicle at a time. It shouldn't matter if the tuner is sold, given away, or still in the hands of the original purchaser (IMO) because it is only being used on one vehicle.
Now if the tuner isn't returned to stock then I think they are justified in charging $200. That is still half the price of a new tuner.
By the way, I am very good about keeping receipts ( I have a file cabinet full of them) but I have misplaced my suoertuner receipt, or I didn't receive one. I hope I don't run into this problem. I purchased mine last June from MotorHaven and MotorHaven's sales are now handled by AutoAnything and they don't have records for the purchases before they took over. AA did give me a number to call MH to try to get a copy of my receipt, but so far all I have been able to get is voice mail and NO RETURNED CALL.
Well I received an e-mail this morning with a copy of my receipt attached. I have printed it out and put it in a safe place in caes I run into any problems in the futeure.
I agree with Ken Payne 2 posts above. Its not only Superchips, almost EVERY tuner company will want proof that the unit is not grey market before they support it. If you had gotten the tuner from a company like MotorHaven or many of the other real dealers, you would be able to contact them and have them get in between SuperChips and you. If any of our customers has a problem and they call me first, I normally will always call the manufacturer and explain the issue from a dealers perspective and get a name of a person that I can refer the customer to. That way when the customer contacts the company rep or tech guy...they are already very aware of the particular issue, they know its coming from a dealer, and the customer gets the royal treatment. There are a few here that I have done this for and we have always gotten 100% support and backing from manufacturers. Try to think of where you got this tuner, and try having them do the initial leg work for you...its considered good customer support from my point of view. My job is to not only sale you the parts you want, but to be here for you after the sale to help keep you happy and hope that the next time you buy or hear a pal talking af getting aftermarket parts that you will only want to see the deal going thru us because of the service we delivered before, during, and after the sale. The personal touch....
Good luck, and I hope you can remember where you made that deal on the tuner, it may solve most of your current issues.
This is why I buy my parts from Discount Power...
Support and service, head and shoulders above the rest.

I believe there are other tuners that let you upgrade online with ripping you off.
sorry but webmaster has told you the truth.
every car builder out up dates the factory code all the time to correct problems that come up after the build date . sct installed 2 years ago what came out then when it was new . they can not keep up with this problem . are you aware that ford has 13.214 codes since 1996 for the cars and trucks as of their last pcm code release? and how many times a code changes the car or trucks pcm number which your tuner goes by.
for my own i have a sct excal2 purchased from webmaster before i started working for a local sct dealer. my code changed 3 times in 1 year and even i have to rewrite my dyno written tunes for my own unit. it went from brv0 to nzt1 . via 2 others. even we as a dealer had to purchase new soft ware to write them.
seems what your doing. is only trying to put blame at some one else for your own problem of failing to maintain proof of purchase .if so why did you not keep it safe some ware like your glove box in the owners manual. like i have done.

I believe there are other tuners that let you upgrade online WITH OUT ripping you off. I will be looking elsewhere for another product and will stay clear of the tuner produced by MicroChips....Buyer beware of this company...
I not going to get hung up on a receipt, which has been overly stated in this post. I had experiences with other companies that truely back there products and do not ask for a receipt.

Yes DiabloPredator the Edge and also SCT XcalII can be updated via the net
sct excal can be reflashed over the net from the sctflash web site and your dealer can send you new tunes. problem is if you have the old tunes from your dealer they will not work with a reflashed ecal2 untill they are converated to the new code type . but here we are talking a custom tune unit not a over the counter type . even the excal has a new unit factory loaded but reflash it and it's worth less with out new custom tunes.
please guys if in doubt ask before you do any thing with these units all brands. check the companys web site about any possible problems after the reflash is done . ask and check if your tuner locks to a vin and code? sct and sctflash do lock to pcm code and vin number. it's in thier web sites information and instruction sheets
useing my own truck as a example thier is 215 codes for a 05 f with a v10 my own code changed and supercided 4 times. so what back to the rollers and a rewrite for own.
there is a very old saying with drag racers "if you want to play, be prepaired to pay"

You left a message at 7:00pm EST last night, two hours after the office closed. Your receipt was faxed this morning. Geeze folks, people aren't going to come into the office at 7:00pm because you want a receipt... give people a chance.
There were several tuners on the market when you bought yours. Superchips never stated their tuner could be updated on the Internet. That was one of the selling points of the Diablo product. You made your choice and had the facts available to you on sites all over the internet. Now you come here and whine about getting ripped off when in fact its 100% your fault. You didn't read the warranty policy, you apparently didn't research the products and you didn't keep the receipt. They aren't ripping you off and I think you're just PO'd because you screwed up .

I apologize for that. I called right after AutoAnything called me with your number. I thought you were in the Pacific time zone as they are. The voice mail didn't say the office was closed so I ***umed everyone was out to lunch. My Bad.
I didn't really expect to get the receipt since you had changed your procedures...figured the records were gone. Glad I bought from you even tho' I could have saved a couple bucks elsewhere. This proves your customer service is top notch. Thanks Again.
Again I am sorry for being impatient.
