They are a pain in the a**, can't stop it but you can bring it to a minimum but draining the old fluid and add a full synthetic ATF.

I just added some Lucas power steering treatment to mine, and it seems to be little less nosiy.

Do you know of where I can get the friction modifier??

Any Ford dealer!! like me, but because of cost it really wouldn't be worth it because whatever you saved would be lost on shipping.

Is this the same friction modifier as you would put in the diff, on and LS?

yes it is. Ford has had us add it quite a few times to quiet noise in PS.

it's a 4oz bottle, I would put in about 1/2 of that. I know it is ok with PS fliud, but since you also have lucas in there i'm not sure. I would think it would be ok. But you never know. anyone else have a opinion?

From what I have been learning here and on another Ford site this problem started when they went to the plastic pumps and if you retro an older metal pump you will not have the problem. One source even said that NAPA has the whole kit, Price I am not aware of. My 77 150 has never whined as of yet. Good luck.

well I added the lucas bottle and the power steering is dam quieter then before now it only makes noise when you turn the wheel past 1 and a 1/2 turns. So I think that another half of bottle will do the trick.

It is about time i was getting annoyed with the whinning noise
