PS pump whining?

PS pump whining?
I justreplaced the pulley and the power steering pump , now I have a whining from the pump when I'm holding the brake. Any ideas?

Texasjack - When you re-filled the pump did you use Power Steering fluid or Tranny Fluid? Requires Tranny fluid.

There was a TSB on 2000 SDs with pump whine,think it was was a line replacement

What line Ray? Mine just started whining after I did my brake job, its also got a bit of restance in the turn sometimes.

I can't remember all the details the TSB came out in '01 or '02.Mine don't whine that much so I didn't bother with it

I put trans fluid in. Hose replacement? Really think snythetic makes a difference?

Mine too... And the steering got a bit smoother. I could kind of feel the whine as I turned the wheel. After converting to syn, no more issues.

It will take a little while to get the all the air out, but I agree, the Syn did stop my whining.

i went with mobil 1, remember its tranny fluid

Thank you. I use the Mobile full syn in my 7.3 and all my cars.

All fluids in my truck are Mobile 1 Syn. except engine oil, thats Delo.
