I'm really thinking about purchasing a chip / programmer for my '06 F250.(either Banks or Edge) Should I really worry about blowing a head gasket? The build date is 12/05. Of all the guys that run a aftermarket programmer have problems?
thanks for the input
Not all that run a programmer have problems. Can they cause problems? Yes, but IMHO I believe that a truck that has problems after being tuned was going to have problems anyway just probably a little futher down the road. I have had my 6 Gun for about a year and 3 months or so and have never had a problem. It is scary if you are concerned about warranty issues. Remember be prepared to pay if you play.
I agree with Danny... if you want to to have something that runs harder than a stocker, do it, but make sure you have made friends with a good FoMoCo service advisor in case you need him when it counts. Sometimes you can play... and not have to pay.
I did a some research before I purchased the Bullydog programmer. I went with a programmer instead of a chip because it seemed to me that the chips had a higher failure rate. And, with a programmer, you can set your truck back to the stock program with a programmer before driving into the dealership for warranty work. Just my two cents
While there are some probelms caused by chips/programmers in most cases the owner is the cause by asking a truck to operate like a race car, no matter how you slice it it's still a truck! We sell literally hundreds of chips/programmers each month and the incident of problems is actually very low.
Hi Mark: I have an 04, 6.0L, 6spd. I use the truck mostly for towing. Most of the programmers/ chips etc are targeted at tucks with autos, and they talk about HP increases at 3,000 rpm plus. Is there anything that will boost power and mileage in the 1,800 to 2,200 rpm range where my truck is run most of the time?

GREAT question X GM GUY I've been searching for the answer for several weeks looking forward to the sponsors answers<O</O
Is there anything that will reliably boost power and mileage in the 1,800 to 2,200 rpm range? If so how much power, millage, and $?
thanks for the words of wisdom guys, i don't know any Ford Service Advisors, but i work for a company that runs all Ford Trucks. With over 120 vehicles in the fleet we have a couple of fun time machanics that are fully trained and would be able to help me out in fixing the problem if any ever came about
