Programmer for 06 f250

I have a f250 and was looking for advice on the best programmer possible. I bought a bullydog but did research and see its not really good for this truck. Any suggestions?

For a 6.0L, either an SCT with custom tunes, or a Power Hungry Performance Gryphon with custom tunes. Either way you're going to pay to play, odds are you'll eventually need studs.

Before you go the tuner route, make sure you have the essentials so you can properly monitor and get the exhaust gases out quicker. Make sure you have gauges to monitor the vitals. The dash temp gauges are pretty much worthless IMO. At a minimum, make sure you have EGT and fuel pressure gauges. But I highly recommend you have coolant and tranny temp gauges also. You should also upgrade your exhaust to help with keeping EGTs down. I second Bryan's recommendation on SCT with custom tunes.

Thanks guys... I am new to the diesel scene. I already upgraded my exhaust and am going to do a cold air intake. Any other suggestions?

6.0l doesnt need a Cold Air Intake. The factory one flows more than the engine needs and filters the air better than any aftermarket. It is actually a very good filter system.

If the filter is oiled it can junk up the MAF, if it's not it won't clean as well and can dust the turbo. The stock filter flows more air than the turbo can typically pull, so if it's already non-restrictive what do you gain by adding a CAI? The stock filter pulls from the grille, if the aftermarket filter pull from the engine bay, what's colder about that air?

Spend the money on what's really going to make a difference. Blue spring, STC fitting, studs, bulletproof EGR cooler and new oil cooler, oil changes every 5k and fuel filters every 10k. Once you've done all that.... yeah, the CAI still won't do dick for you.

Thanks.... I really appreciate the info.... Had a guy tell me to pull the grill off and open it up a bit more and just put a better filter in there... Would that benefit anything?

When I say open it up I mean cut a bit and make a bigger hole. Then put the grill back on and it will perform better...

There is something called the "zoodad" mod, which is what you are describing. Lots of guys do that because it is free. I've never seen any need, but that's just me.
