door ajar issues
I have an 02 F250 factory keyless and ford accy remote start. After an oil change several years ago, the keyless system stoped working and the door ajar light stayed lit. I bought this truck last year and have been trying to trouble shoot it, but I am stuck.
The door ajar light goes off when both front doors are open. If I close either one, it will come back on. I have tapped each of the 4 return wires from the door sensors and grounded them. The light stayed on.
Are the door switches closed when the doors are open or closed? I have been asuming the curcuit is closed when the doors are, meaning the sensors are sending a ground back to some module.
The remote start seems to be tied into the drivers door sensor. When the key is in the ignition and the door is closed the dinger starts dinging. When I open the door, it stops. That seems backwards, is it?
I've been a year doping on this, I would apprecaite any help.

About a year ago My 2002 F250 passenger door stopped unlocking and locking with the remote key and the door open light stayed lite. Two weeks ago the driver's side remote key stopped working. The serviceman at the Ford dealer said he had trouble like that and it was the latch mechanism that was dirty. He put some oil on it and worked it 4 or 5 time and his started working. It did not work for me.

First thing I would try is WD40 in the door latch on the "DOOR". Spray the bejesus out of it!! Exercise the door a dozen times and let sit overnight. Check it after sitting.....This usually works more than not!
