door ajar light

I have a 1999 Explorer. After closing the passenger door in back the door ajar light remained on. This has happened several times but I have been able to get it to go off by continually closing the door, until last night. When this happens all my lights stay on. To no avail I had to pull the fuse to get the lights out. I figure it is a switch? Have no idea where to look.

Smile Door Ajar Light

You Door Ajar Sensor Needs To Be Replaced. A Dealership Will Be Able To Tell You Which One Is Bad. I Had Mine Replaced Yesterday. I Have A 2002 Mountaineer And The Problem Is Now Fixed.

The door ajar switch is located inside the door latch. When they get dirty they will cause the lights to stay on. Take some wd-40 and spray the latch area really good and open and close the door a few times and your problem should go away.
