Convince Me to come over
OK, I've been a die hard Chevy fan for years. I've only owned Chevy Trucks. Right now I own a 2003 Chevy 2500HD bought brand spank me new. About a year after I bought it I really started noticing the Ford F250. Since then I can't get them out of my mind. I really like the Lariat. I want you Ford guys to convince me why I should choose a new Ford F250 over a GM 2500HD. Either the 6.8 V10 vs the GM Big Block 8.1 V8/Allison combo, or the 6.0 Ford PSD vs. 6.6 GM D-Max/Allison combo. Also why you think Ford's style is better than the GM. I want it all; Looks, Engines, Automatic Tran., interior, ect.....
I know both brands have had some recent problems with their Heavy Fuel motors. But why should I trust the Reliability of either brand. Cram it down my throat why Ford wins this battle and not their competition.

I can't complain about the Chevy because I never got the chance to find out. A year a half ago when I was looking around I was looking at Ford, Chevy and Dodge. I didn't like the looks of the Dodge, which left the Ford and Chevy. I called the Chev dealership, told them I was looking for a new truck comparable to a Ford F350 dually with a 15K hitch, V10, and 9,000 rear axle rating.
To this day I have no idea why, but the salesman just mumbled something and hung up on me. A similar e-mail inquiry also got no response. So the long and the short of it is that I have no idea what the differences are, but I sure do love my truck!

Once you go FORD You not drive anything else.
Last GM product I owned was new back in 1995 had it 6 months it spent more time at the dealer that I drove it only had 3300 miles on it, when I trade it for A Ford 1995 F250 SC 4x2 with 460.
Go Ford it is the best and you wont go back to GM I also heard the new Dodge trucks spend alot of time in service department also.
I have a buddy that works for a rent a car place they rent a lot of cars to Dodge truck ownners and they are repeat repairs just feel sorry for them when Chrysler tell them they will not fix it becasues some BS reason.
I purchased my truck used from a Chrysler dealer and when it blew a plug out they tryed this with me sure glad This Ford Forum helped me out making them fit it thanks.
I have owned or the bank has owned just paying the back so I can drive it.
1995 F 250 SC 460,
1997 F 350 SC Dulley PSD,
1999 Expedition 5.4,
2002 Ford F250 4x4 5.4.

I'm not gonna cram anything down anyones throat. When your spending the kind of money trucks cost these days, you've gotta be the one deciding what to choke on.
All I can say is I don't regret the purchase of my F350 PSD at all, if that says anything for you. It sure says a bunch for me.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Personal preference is all there is to consider IMO.

O.K. This is just my .02 so here goes. Why do you want this truck? Will you tow w/ it? Will you haul heavy loads? Do you want a nice ride or do you want a HD truck? I am a Ford man so I'm biased but I have friends of all brand loyalties and have spent plenty of time in and under each truck. The Ford is a heavy duty truck, period. My 04 F350 does not ride as good as my buddy's 03 Chevy 3500HD. But I've got 3" more clearance under the front pinion than he has under his so called "skidplate". Our other buddy has a an 03 Dodge 3500 dually with a 24V Cumapart that will out pull my V10, not by much but he always manages to stay a nose ahead. Yet both of us stay out in front of that 8.1. They all have their share of problems, most of them minor. It comes down to style and what you wanna do w/ it. You just wanna haul a yard of mulch for the wife once a year and use it to commute, buy the GM. You actually wanna use it for what a 3/4 ton truck was intended and still be doing it 10 years down the road, buy the Ford. But ultimately, it's your $600 a month, you gotta be happy.

I think what everyone is telling you is: We can not decide for YOU! Do what blueeyes says.... go test drive the truck. Try one with the big V8 and try the diesel, but be VERY CAREFUL. Once you get into that 6.0 diesel, there's no wiping that 6.0 smile offa your face!!
BTW, there very little difference between the 250 and 350. If you aren't gonna tow big/heavy, save some bucks and get the 250.

Drove both a Chevy Dmax and ford. Thought the chevy was better riding and more of a truck for just cruising. Was dissapointed when was running up some of the small hills in Oklahoma with a fairly light load (maybe 3000lbs.). The ford is a work truck, not as cushy as the chevy, but I believe they hold up alot better when towing, and for the long haul.
