1956 Window regulator roller

How do you install the roller on the regulator arm and get that pin into place. I have torn off two finger nails trying to hold the washer far enough back to slide the locking pin in place and still can't get it on correctly. What's the secret!

Here is how I did mine recently. I put the roller assembly together outside the door. Then with the window in a lower position I slid the roller assembly onto the track. Then I raised or lowered the window to meet the regulator arm pin. I inserted the pin into the roller assembly until I met resistance. Then I took a small needle nose pliers and pryed the locking clip out of the roller assembly just enough to allow the regulator arm pin to go in all the way. Then reseat the clip and you show be good to go. Good luck

Thanks. I had tried for two hours to get that pin in place while the assembly was over the regulator arm. After I asked for help I figured out it could be put together before sliding it on the regulator which I did and fininshed in five minutes. Oh well live and learn, thanks for the input.
