I'M BACK, AGAIN, FOR YOUR HELP

I'm getting closer with my 1955, F350, Flatbed to driving it on the open road, well, when the snow clears.

I'm putting in the door windows. Already, have the vent windows in, new division bar, window regulator, and new fuzzies. My problem is keeping the window glass in the glass channel roller. I've put glass tape on the bottom of the window but the channel roller is too wide and the glass just pulls out. So I'm wondering if I should squeeze the channel roller until it touches the glass. Or, should I just embed the glass in silicone.
Thanks,

I'm guessing the tape you are using is not the proper thickness. The glass tape is available in different thicknesses and unfortunately I don't remember which one I used on mine to get it to fit properly.

Thanks, Cougar54, I was told to try electrical tape to "shim" up the vent windows; I wonder if that would work for the door windows? I didn't have to shim up the vent windows, they fit nice and snug in the frames.

Thanks Badmoonreizen, I do want to do it properly. Any ideas where I can buy thicker glass tape?

ebay "glass setting tape". Or I'd use gorilla tape on the bottom edge. As many layers as needed to get the glass setting tape that you have to work. Once the channels wear in a little bit the glass will require less pull to lower it. I'm not sure I did mine right. Wish I had watched something like this. Fast forward to 6 minutes.

We continue to "enjoy" spring showers over this side of the cascades. If much of this is making it over the mountains then you must be getting plenty of snow this year.

das54, that was a great video, thanks for sharing. Yeah, I'm ready for the snow to go away. It snowed almost all day yesterday, today doesn't look like a lot of snow but I saw there was a Winter Storm Warning for Southwest Oregon.

You can also use windshield urethane it will work very well but needs to be left overnight to set and don't get it on anything else as it is very difficult to clean off .

Thanks EBEAR. I did a little experimenting with the glass tape and found it gets real sticky when heated up with my heat gun. So I heated some up and stuck it to the bottom of the window; after also heating up the glass a little. I had some scrapes of glass tape laying around from my vent windows so I heated those up and stuck them to one side of the glass. Did a "dry-fit" with the glass channel roller; it was a much better fit but I wasn't there yet. So I put another strip of glass tape on the other side. Heated the whole shootin match up and tapped the glass channel roller on; continuing to heat the glass channel roller too. It'll be a cold day in hell before those two come apart. So tomorrow I'm taking the regulator back out and also the back window channel. Then I'll set my window inside the door with the now "married" glass channel roller. Put the regulator and back window channel back in place. Guide the window up in the division bar and back window channels, roll the regulator down and push those rollers onto the regulator pins. That's the plan for right now. Thank you guys for the support - you guys are the greatest!

Make sure that you don't forget to put special primer on the glass and let it dry before using the urethane sealer. But this is very difficult to get out of the channel if you have to replace the glass. Windshields have to be cut out with a hot knife. If you use urethane you are probably stuck with using that process with those channels forevermore.

The right thickness of tape is a better choice IMHO.
