The 95 will be a roller motor , look at the sticker under the hood , if it has the same firing order as the 351 & 302 HO , then its a roller . Theres a good chance it has mass air to ....Lew
My 93, with it's original engine, has a firing order of 15426378, indicating that its a non-roller engine. However, all sources say it's roller.
Ahhh.... but the roller cam is not limited to the HO firing order. Starting back in 1986 the 5.0HO got a roller cam and then a version of that motor with a base roller cam using the old firing order was installed in passenger cars until the switch to the modular 4.6 in 1991. Then that same base 5.0 roller motor appeared in light trucks in '92 and '93 until the new F4TE(explorer) cam with the HO firing order was installed starting in 1994.
I have the roller cam. What difference did this actually make? Is that when the horsepower rating increased from 185 to 200ish?
Less wear and 7 percent less internal engine friction: more HP and more MPG than a non roller engine.
The HP increased to over 200 when the factory started using a more agressive camshaft-almost as hot as the Mustang MAF factory camshaft. Around MY 1994.
