should I, or shouldn't I?
But, as you have already read. Some have been horrendous. Some issues may have been self induced. But, others is just pure bad luck. In addition, Ford didn't endear themselves to many of the unlucky folks with their customer service policies.
I wish I were one of the lucky ones. In eleven months I've been towed in twice for the same problem (failed high pressure oil pump). Right now I am again truck-less. Took it to the dealer three days ago because the check engine light came on. They told me it now needs a new turbo and they are waiting for it to be shipped. I am a little confused. Although the check engine light was on, the turbo boost gauge was working and it appeared to be normal. When I called today to check on progress I asked how they determined that the turbo was bad. The service advisor (not the mechanic) told me that they can't figure out why the light is on, so they are replacing the turbo. I am not a mechanic, but that answer did not inspire a great deal of confidence.
Truck is completely stock (no performance chip or anything), is an '05 with just over 20k miles. Other than the engine problems, I like the truck and am reluctant to get rid of it. I just wish the engine was reliable.
RCE
Not a single problem with the truck but the front right Goodyear AT blew out doing 70mph @ 9k miles. Goodyear would not do a thing for me. I'm done with them.
Really impressed with this truck and most of all the PSD. I've had a smile whenever I'm behind the wheel, except trying to get it to the side of the road after the tire blow out.
Also noticed a nice jump in gas milage recently (13.5-14 when new, 16 now) Guess the motors loosning up and the warmer weather helps.
