Big News
I spoke with my buddy when I was picking up my truck. We started talking about the problems the 6.0 was having. He told me that 6.0 was going to be discontinued in '07. Its being replaced by a twin turbo V8 cummins, 500HP and 650 Ft tq. He drove the motor in a prototype and said its an absolute monster. I guess I'll start saving now!

i think you have it all right except the cummins part. i think it is still going to be a ih motor. there was a post going a few days ago about the new 6.3 or 6.4 (i've seen people say both so i dont know which it is) i haven't read it but you should be able to get some info from that. i've heard ih has a contract with ford through 09. i heard being the biggie here dont quote me.

That contract may not be exclusive.......someone stated awhile back that a Cummins was an option in the F550s and F650s. I don't recall if you could get it in the F450 or not. I havn't checked it out. But I'll have a talk with a Ford sales manager that I know, and will report what I find out......about the Cummins in 07, and about wheather it is an option now.

IH in 07. 6.4L twin turbo, cummins in 550 and 650's. well, not just cummins in them, but as an option. And if a diesel is 500hp, i would bet torque is way above 650. However the D-maxes for 06 are 360HP and 650 Ft/LBS

lmao.go to internationals website and do some reading.you will see that ford and international have tighter ties now then before.they jointly developed and now build and sell a LCF truck under both name plates. the truck uses the new v6powerstroke with a torqueshift.they also produce the 4cyl power stroke for ford southamerica. i doubt you will ever see anything but a international motor in a ford pickup. as for the medium duty trucks, one day cummins and cat may not be options.
