these trucks should be driven. and believe me, i drive the sweet bejesus out of my '78. i would like to park it to keep it looking as great as it does now. the paint is flawless and the pipes really scare little kids, plus the chicks love it. even more than the motorcycles, and i live 30 miles from Sturgis, SD! i just don't have the heart to let it sit. it's been working since it was brand new and the old roads at home would'nt know what to do without it. the more old ones out there to embarrass the new ones the better. keep 'em running!

Well, I work at a computer company in Tacoma, Washington. I live about 40 minutes away. For the past 8 months I've been driving my 1969 f100 to work and back and every where else in creation. She doesn't burn a lick of oil, smooth as ice, she's got a 240, no muffler, the gas is a little pricey, but who could ask for a better ride? Classics kic a**!!!

I bought a 1968 F100 from a guy in Wichita Kansas I found it listed in Yahoo. He held it for me about 2 weeks so I could get the cash for it. I went down to get it and It didn't seem like it wanted to stay running so I offered him $600.00 What a steal any how I got it back home a 2 1/2 drive and pulled out the distro and moved it over a tooth and i is running great. since then i have repainted it by hand and bondo'de all the rust and stuff . I cleaned it up really nice and I drive it all the time. Right now I have the heads off getting ported and polished. This may sound scary to some of you and you might hate me for this, but i'm building the motor in it for a race car so when the car is ready the truck is gone, or maybe if i can find another eng for it, it will tow the car.

I LOVE MY FORD AND I DRIVE THE HECK OUT OF IT

I love it when I pull up next to a 5.0 stang or a camaro and they think they are hot shxt and rev there eng and I just laugh at them when I slam the gas and all the eat is exuast!

THAT IS WHAT A FORD TRUCK IS ALL ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!

Let them CHEVY boys grow up and get a real truck Be a FORD MAN!

Mine is a daily driver, except rite now I'm swapping out the 360 for a 460. I've driven it cross country when I moved from AZ to SC and up to NY a few times. I turn alot of heads where ever I drive it. My wife always laffs when she sees people staring. She says they are having a moment with my truck. They are ment to be driven,no trailer queens here.lol

I drive my 69 f100 ranger, long bed to work, after work and every chance I get. It has a 360 with a 390 sittin in the garage slowy getting rebuilt to put in. In th summer she blows ice cold air and in the winter she keeps it nice and warm in the cab.

I know it's an old thread but mine is not a daily driver. Building a truck to be driven (not trailered) but she is a fair weather girl. So much so the wipers are gone and the original holes eliminated with additional cowl grate. Looks like she never had wipers. In the summer we try to get her out as often as possible. Always turns heads & has 4 Harley's under her belt so far. She sits right now awaiting the IRS, 460 & C6.

Wow, the original post was from 2002, and now revived.
I drive my 67 everyday to work. Even drove on a 1200 mile trip. I like the smooth ride(for being a pickup), but the seat is getting worn out. A/C would be nice, so would better mpg.
Yes, that's daily driving with a choppy cam & hiway gears.

My truck isn't quite ready to hit the streets yet. When it does it will be a summertime boulevard cruiser only. I used to use it 365 days a year. It was very dependable as a daily driver but it was crazy on ice. Found myself unintentionally driving backwards many times! Anyway no more of that now that I've done the body and paint. I've put too much work into it to take it out on salt covered roads. I like it too much for that. It's a 1969 F-100 (Ranger model) with a 390 which I believe to be the original block. The heads are from a '74 and have hardened seats. I have installed an Edelbrock Performer intake with the heat passages blocked off. Another reason not to drive it in winter. I'm using a slightly modified Holley 4180 (Motorcraft) carb. I converted to power steering and installed a 4-speed overdrive tranny. The diff is a 3.54:1 limited slip Dana/Spicer 60 unit. The truck will still be called upon to be a truck from time to time. I'll just be more carefull what I load into it or just load the trailer instead. Yes, I have noticed too that women seem to like my truck and that's always a good thing. My daily driver is a 1970 Mercury fullsize car powered by a 351W which has been virtually trouble free and is much better on slippery roads and good in snow too. The body is a bit rough but she's very reliable and might even become a project someday too. Talk about Ford tough!

I drive mine whenever a truck is needed, hauling mulch for my wife, pulling my boat when it's on the trailer and kayaking in the rivers. Being in redneck country it blends right in.
