Autoenginuity and towing.
I have mentioned this before on here, but in case you missed it, here is what I believe to be true......the Fred Jones reman pumps (supplies Ford) are at best a patch reman. I am told that they dismantle them, replace what is broken or worn beyond function and reseal them, hense only a 50/50 chance of it performing better than yours (if the pump came off a truck where the oil was not changed on a regular basis, the piston/bore clearances will be too great to pump correctly). According to the Delphi engineers (I called), they only reuse the pump housing. All internals are new and better presision than the OEM pumps. That is why I went with a Delphi. Just trying to hedge my bet for success.
Results: I am thrilled with the performance of the pump. Now granted, I have the smaller injectors than most, but I hold 2800 PSI @ WOT and only 46% duty cycle on the 120 tune. I had Jody up my potential duty cycle to 85% when he did my tunes and he set the ICP to 2800. My "seat of the pants" dyno says I gained about 30 HP by installing the pump. My old pump would only hold 1500 PSI @ 85% duty cylce on the 120 program. Heck, it would only hold 1700 on the 40 hp tow program.
I could have just been lucky on the pump and got a "good One", but I would like to believe that the Delphi is what they said it is and just performs as it should. Your guess is as good as mine. If I had it to do again, I would still by the Delphi over any other OEM reman.
I paid $400+ $150 core charge for mine. Do some searchs on the internet and check around. I found a couple for even a few dollars less, but didn't get a warm fuzzy that they knew what they were doing. I don't think I can publish where I purchased mine as it wasn't a sponser (I prefer to purchase from sponsers, but no one had one when I was shopping). PM me if you want the contact. I don't think they have any right now though. The Delphi strike put everything on back order a couple months ago.
