Jag, has hit it on the nail..... This site had a bunch of crazy people in it, posting ridulous pictures or joking about something you thought was serious. Each person had a character role and everyone knew that persons weaknesses or attitudes. They had a way of getting you to go back into the garage, tackle and finish a project, then laugh about it and post why you can't remember what the heck was fun about what you finished. Even though we were all miles apart, a friendship and bond was here that I think is lacking in here, to a point. I still haven't forgotten the time Jag helped me out finding my bench seat for the truck and everyone else whose helped me get my truck together. I think you can sum it up by stating that you really wanted to get on this website every night so you wouldn't miss an episode of FTE... I can't remember how long it took me to figure out what a "darksider or newbie" was. And the guys in here made me pay for it for the longest. But when frustration kicked in (and it will!), these guys slapped me straight, picked me up and insulted me all at the same time. Man that was great... LOL...
What a pleasant surprise. Nice that you are thinking of me. As Bill said, I was home on R&R leave last month. Just missed the Supernats. Had a nice time with the family. Worked on the truck a bit and took wifey cruising around town. Believe it or not it was the first time she had a ride.
I'm following a lot of sports over here. Got to attend a couple Cincinnati Reds games while I was back. Listening to baseball games on my laptop is my main source of entertainment lately. Only so much gearheading a guy can do when all you see is Hummers and Toyotas over here.
Deployments are varying lengths. Marine deployments are short, but more frequent. What Dick said is true about mine. 12 months in the sandbox. Train-Up time does not count. I am ready to be done. August is likely the earliest I would come home.
Combat pay is nice. I don't spend any money over here on myself. I've picked up some nice stuff for back home. Air Flow Research aluminum heads, nitrous and lots of other girlie motor parts. All kinds of crap.
I do have some spare time, but it's really hit and miss. I'll try to spend more time here. So many new faces around here. I have to post off prime-time, so I'm a little hesitant to raise hell and then leave.
The Private message button work fine. Give me a shout anytime you like. You guys take care.

Jag - You da man!!!
Jag... yeh, you da man... da man out of his mind... besides my house won't work.... we have laws and ordinances here east of the Mississippi... we only allow one visit a year for leftcoasters into our paradise and a maximum of 50 per year.. you guys used up yours for the supernats... I had to beg the powers that be to let you go over the limit this one time... soooo no more Krazyfornians on our side of the big muddy till next year...
and the steer roaster's is still busy maintaining my frame...
I think most everybody is like me. I've been posting for about a year, asking questions, but now my truck is done, finished . What,,, your not done,,, what have you been doing??? Remember, that beast went from nothing, to a finished, running truck in about 12 hours....Get back to work.....
OK guys and gals. You heard him. John Niolin says the party is confirmed at his house. What a guy! Always willing to let us intrude. And very generous too, what with volunteering to provide all the beer! Now we just need to hear from 'fenders so we know when to schedule the party. BTW, I'm bringing my bull-riding machine so I've got dibs on setting up under that big elm tree on the side of the house. Jag
Better take the south route across I-10 and then I-20. You will drive within a mile or two of Johns on 20. There is an exit there called Hueytown Red Neck Drive. Just down the ramp and turn left.
I'm with Ed, another super tour ride to Jiolon's place. I hope you guys let me know the time and when, because I have to go to PepBoys and buy one of those rotating lighted license plates. I want the east coasters to know I'm from California. In fact, I'll bring my hair stylist, plastic surgeon, psychologist, and weight loss instructor along. Don't worry John, I believe they don't eat much because they are vegetarians. If you could provide a spinach salad with Vinegrette dressing that would be nice... LOL.... BTW- Thanks! Looking forward to this one.
I can provide some entertainment, there are a bunch of those Trash Can Tail Pipe types around here that have been 'speriencing a rash of flat tires. I'll get the word out on just who dunnit and we can have a convoy down I-75. Once we get to John's we can all make fun of them.
