I searched for an hour and I couldn't find an answer to this. I want to buy some dynomax headers for a 69 F250 360 2wd 4spd. I thought I had read something about these being designed so they fit over the engine perches so you don't have to jack the engine. Is this true? I called Dynomax and they didnt have a clue.
Thanks
Aaron
I think most headers fit over the engine mount perches but you will still have to jack up the engine to get the passenger side header in. You will find that the header won't slide in between the starter and frame unless you jack up the engine.
Jacking up the engine isn't all that hard...just take off the engine mount nut and use a 2 x 2 and a floor jack. Be sure to undo the radiator fan shroud and let it hang on the front of the engine or else you will break it when you jack up the engine. Once the engine is jacked up put a piece of wood between the frame and engine mount before you start working on the headers. If the jack slips and the engine comes down you don't want to have you hands in there.
With the engine jacked up you should be able to jam the passenger side header in. Good luck.
Remember too that once the headers are in there to wrap the starter with some heat resistant material and /or a heat shield. If it goes out you will need to jack the engine up and loosen the header to remove the starter.
