Im installing a 2003 6.0 powerstroke into my 1993 f350. The engine I bought came with an automatic tranny and tranfer case. I want to change over to a manual and sell the auto. My question is..... Will the 7.3 trans bolt up to the 6.0 or did the bellhousing change....
I've read that the 6.0 has the same bolt pattern, but I wouldn't take that as gospel.
But I agree with cookie, I'd be surprised if IH changed it, they are pretty good about leaving well enough alone. Their gassers shared the same bell pattern for the I4, I6, and V8s. Interchangeability for those rigs is awesome. The I4 is just a half an 8cyl, the heads between the 4cyl and 8cyl are interchangeable. OT, but interesting.
Ive got the 2003 6.0 with everything. The Auto trans and transfercase. I belive the computer is located on the engines of those but not sure. Its a compleate engine with the fan and alternaterstill on it. Ive got the oil pan and starter too. All belts and hoses, wiring harness. ect. I want to use the auto but not sure how all the electronic features hook up. I also need to find an aftermarket floor shifter as well. I dont know if the AOD and 4R100 have the same shift hookups..
I do also believe the tranny bolt pattern is the same, they have the same ZF 6 behind them that was behind the 7.3 PS, which will also bolt up to the 7.3 IDI and 6.9 IDI engines.
I do believe there is also a cab mounted computer as well as a bunch of cab wiring that is different.
Take a lot of pictures and document the install, I am sure if you write it well enough you will be a popular person on this site.
