I'm really considering getting the power window kit from the LMC catalog for my 78 f150. Sure, it will take away for the truck's origional stock crank handles but I can care less. I drive the truck daily and with rising temps and no a/c, it would be nice to just hit a button. I have also heard of others using oem stuff from 80's Fords but I honostly don't want to take the time to find the stuff and modify.... I just want to install it. The lmc kit sounds like a direct bolt in kit. Anyone have this kit? How is the quality, installation, and use?
there is one company that actually has a new regulator i think its electiclife or something like that. more expensive but it pretty much duplicates a oem setup.
I've installed the electiclife system. The window regulator was a direct bolt in and seems well made, no plastic cables or tape. The part that takes the longest is doing the wiring and switch installation. I used their harness and switches. The switches I use are the kind that stand off the door panel a little, this allowed me to cover over the hole for the crank. The stand off that holds the switches are black just like my door panel so it likes as if it was original. It's been in my truck for 4 years and no problems. There was no instructions for the installation of the (switches)in you door panel as for as location or hole size so cut small you can always go bigger.
in my 1950 F1 I used a power window system but I forgot the name brand which would help alot. This kit used the original window crank but the regulator was the switch. What I mean is pull the crank up approx 10* and the window goes up push it down 10* past 0 and the window goes down. Really cool because I didnt have to cut or modify anything and someone who doesnt know would never know they were power windows. Anyone help me with the company? I found it in a hot rod magazine.
is this the kit you are talking about? this is the rout i was thinking of taking.
Nope, I am talking about the kit offered by LMC truck. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fc/0061.html It's cheaper than that kit you posted and it offers the wiring and switches which that kit does not offer.

A buddy of mine bought this kit from LMC. The kit from A1Electric have less moving parts and require less mounting hard ware.
The LMC kit is a universal kit that has a lot of monkey motion. I would be afraid of the durability of that kit. Their was a guy on this board that was adapting a electric motor from a 80s Ford to a 70s regulator with good success, you might try searching, he had pictures in his gallery. I'm going to adapt one or but the A1 kit myself.
