Heres the thing.. I bought this front clip off of a 1979 and come to notice after i get it apart and sandblasted to get ready for paint that theres only 2 mounting holes for the headlights.. My old one was 4 holes and i plan on using my 76 grill with the round headlights. Can I make this rad support work or not? Can i just drill 2 more holes or do i need to drill all 4 holes to make the headlights be in the right spot? Thanks
I think you will need to drill all four. Just use the old one for measurements and drill out the new one. The only other differences I've seen is the way the radiator is mounted, be sure and compare it to the old one. Otherwise you should be fine.
I could have sworn you only need to drill 2 new holes but I could be wrong, it's been a while since I did the swap. Other than the headlight bucket positioning everything else will line up fine.
My '73 had the stock '73-77 low mount round lights. When I switched to '79 grill and rectangle lights I did not use any of the 4 previous mounting holes.
So now you will need to install the grill shell and line up the headlights with the grill inserts and mark the locations for the holes. Not a big deal.
