Hey guys and gals my father has a 2000 f250 superduty with the powerstroke. The motor only has 68,000 miles on it and has performed flawlessly for years until about 5 months ago. The problem started when it would stutter or surge just one time...kind of like a hiccup...but we ignored it. Then, at highway or cruising speed, it would die, yet start right back up. Today, i borrowed this thing called the Car Chip, which plugs in underneath the dash and records engine codes. I drove it to town to get tacos and it died at least 5 times. I got home and plugged in the chip to the PC and it said there were no error codes. Have you guys ever heard of anything like this. We were either thinking its the cam angle sensor, the throttle positioning sensor, or the computer (hopefully not). Thanks for the help so far guys.

it sounds like a camshaft position sensor (cps) these are very common for these trucks to go and many people carry a spare in their glovebox. my guess is thats what your problem is because you described all the signs of a bad cps. you can get them cheaper at international than from a ford dealer or even cheaper from ebay if you can wait.
thanks guys. i have the part right now, just wanted to be sure thats what it was before i blew 160 bucks. i'll keep u posted
