Help! Engine Shudders When Gas Applied

Hold your finger over the #1 spark plug hole, then bump the starter over until it blows your finger off of the hole, then line up the timing marks and you are at TDC.
I believe that you are 180 degrees out.

Oh Boy, you have a problem. That little gear that meshes with the gear on the bottom of the dizzy is part of the camshaft. So if you aint one heck of a good experienced mechanix you had better seek help. I have never seen one of these gears break on a camshaft. How about you Dennis, have you ever seen one break?

I did see a cam break in half when a rod went thru it at 6000rpm's, but other than that cams are virtually indestructable.

Only when someone hammers on seized distributor trying to get it out.

Gotta find that piece of it as well.

well yall can stop ur clammorin cuz im waaaaaaaay ahead of u...im greasy as we speak..cam shaft is out already it was real fun had to do it with the motor in the vehicle of course and thanx LX Man i DO now how to find TDC the reason your finger gets blown off the hole is becuase the cylinder is in its compression stroke....and mil1ion u woulda slam that distributor too haha what a mess it was ....but worth takin a pic of im sure yall got a kick outta that one...
