My truck did that for a while, My problem was the accelorator pump on the carb. It had a big leak. I don't think it's anything too serious, probably because the motor isn't quite warm yet. Does it do it after you start it, then after it warms up a bit it goes away?

Back-firing is a timing issue

Maybe the distributor shaft is wearing out ?

Maybe Vacuum advance is seizing.

Plus,
Maybe junk in the fuel tank.

well i noticed that the vacume advance valve thing on the side of the distributor is loose, the screws broke...so it wiggles but i held it and it in place and it still didn't work write and the suggestion is to get a new distributor right? lol...oh and the fuel tank is clean the guy that owned it ran it everyday its been running since it was begot....no sitting....and like i said i changed the fuel filter and the filter is runnin clean pure gas...

The vacuum advance module for the distributor can be replaced by itself. As long as the screw holes are good re-install and test the one you have or replace it. It certainly sounds like a problem if not the problem. It will not work correctly if it is not firmly mounted.

Wiggle the dizzy shaft side to side to see if it is okay.
It was easier to see, if it was an old point dizzy.

The vacuum advance can be replaced by itself.

It may be seized or the diaphram may be leaking anyway.
Replace that for sure
