I'm looking at a used turbo, to test my complete van turbo vs just van turbo exhaust housing on a truck center section, but I need a little help.
I found one online that the guy is willing to sell. The information provided said it is out of an F-450 truck, but it has the 1.15 non-wastegated housing on it which I though only came on the van. I'm not sure of the year of the truck. The part number he has listed is 1831434C94. I tried to look it up online, but no luck finding it, and the dealer is closed.
So, if anyone can look up the part number and tell me what it's for, that would be great. Also, did some of the bigger trucks come with the 1.15 housing possibly?
PM me if you want a link to where the turbo is and you can see some pics. I'd post it, but sure as I did it would get snagged from me. Thanks in advance for the help.
no, all of the F series trucks from 250 to 650 that had the 7.3 powerstroke in them had the .84 housing with the wastegate and EBPV. seriously, i dont think you should bother with that, because in actuality they might be different but the SOTP feel is going to be exactly alike. after the money you spent on it (plus a possible rebuild), you could put that money towards a mag-hytec pan for your free tranny, or save it for something like big oil or injectors. but anyway you can still PM me the info and whereabouts, ill PM you the ford part numbers back. dont worry about me stealing it out from under you because im content with my turbo until i can slap a GT42R or something in the valley with it.

Thaks Kris. One note about the pan, Brian actually suggests that you not use a larger pan. If you have one, he'll just pull it off and put a stock one back in. Theory is if the fluid get's hot, the larger pan will hold more hot fluid and take longer to cool off. Of course, it will take longer to overheat too, but with a big cooler, that shouldn't be a problem. You've got another PM coming.
yes i agree with the theory. i figured the cost of the turbo would be about the cost of the pan. i do believe in the theory of more cooling, not more capacity. it would be nice if Mag=hytec made a stock size pan that was finned. for the price of that turbo, you can get a rear diff cover and possibly a gauge setup.
No dice on the part number, but it's gotta be a 94-97 housing. The OBS trucks bigger than the 350 were either badged as F-450 or F-Superduty, but they are the same rig. I'm not sure why they were badged differently, maybe a year model thing.
