I've got the duelers, and live in snow country. they did GREAT this winter. My first winter w/ them, and I'd recommend them to anyone. I also HIGHLY recommend the ProComp A/T's I've had them before, and they were magic in snow/slush.
I notice that no one has posted anything about the Dayton brand. Here's a little info:
Dayton's are the economy line for Bridgestone/Firestone. They are nearly identical in quality and looks, the price difference comes from the Dayton line receiving no $$ from the marketing budget (therefore they don't need to pass the cost to the consumer). An honest Bridgestone/Firestone dealer will supply the Dayton's as an economy option. A dishonest dealer may price them equally or close to and claim that they have to compensate for less marketshare and obscurity (they are harder to find and do not carry the same stock considerations in the warehouse).
I have the Dayton Timberline M/T tires on my Ranger, they are the same as the Firestone Destination M/T. I am very happy with them. My father, brother-in-law, and best friend all use Dayton's (A/T's) with very good results.
As you've mentioned that price isn't a concern, there probably isn't any reason that you should give them any consideration over their more costly cousins. Hope this sheds some light on Dayton's for you.
My dad has been running Daytons for a few years, and he likes them alot. Goodyear has a similar 'brand', I just can't remember what the name is....I'll have to look into it...
I have a 99 XLT, 4X2, 7' box, 2.5, 5-spd., had Firestone HT's when I bought the truck(used), Hard riding tire, great wearing, switched to a set of Dunlop GT Qualifiers. Great ride, and handling is very good, and they were great in the snow during the winter. (sand tubes in the box-350#). They seem to be wearing very well so far. Got turned on to Dunlops for the wife's Neon, after not getting good mileage wear on Goodyear"s(factory). Put almost 70,000 on those Dunlops with good ride (much improved over Goodyear), so I bought another set for the Neon, then bought a set for the Ranger. My brother borrowed the Ranger after I put on the Dunlops, and was impressed with the great ride and handling. The size should be 225-70-15, but check your door sticker.(this is what my Ranger calls for)

Goodyear has another brand named Douglas. I have only found them at Wal-Mart.

Right you are. My tire dealer friend turned me onto the Dayton Timberline M/Ts when I was considering Destination M/Ts and Dueler M/Ts....still a great tire. I wonder if Dayton has a similar tire to the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo?
bridgestone is the olny one who makes the REVO. firestone, dayton, lamans, and road king (all owned by bridgstone/firestone) dont make any thing even close to the REVO, the REVO is designed to be the top of the line premeam all terain tire. The idea is simple if you realy want the best you have to pay for it and people do so why sell the same thing for cheaper?
How ever their is a small tire company called nokian that makes a "REVO" looks very similar only the tred is fliped and the side wall looks stupid but it is cheaper and it is a very similar tire if you can find some one you can get them its called the [QUOTE][B]VATIVA
Try tirerack.com. I think there's reviews there on just about any tire also.
For what it's worth, In 94, I bought my 90 ranger 2wd with the BFG all-terrain T/A's on it. I agree that it didn't really match the 2wd truck, but it looked like a 4wd with those tires. Several people were surprised when they found out it was a 2wd. Later, when I moved to Utah, (20 mins north of SLC) I was sure glad I had them. They performed very well in the snow. When they wore out, I put standard P-metric all season tires on it and now I don't even dare drive it in the snow. It handles terribly. My Explorer 4wd has the BFG's also. They're somewhat noisy, but great for around here. Look in the parking lots. Lots of people around here have them.
I never told you guys ab my new tires. Well on my way to Utah (I drove around 25 hours straight) I hit the 470miles of Kansas on I-70. Well, Kansas rained cats, dogs, and bison on me for 300 miles of it. I was doing about 60-65mph only because the whole 300 miles of it, I had no fear whatsoever that I would hydroplane (you know how you can tell) and at around 11pm, a young lady in a 4x4 Pathfinder had the cruise control set on 60 (big no-no for the cruise during a rainstorm), she was headed in the opposite direction and I saw her hydroplane and hit the median/ditch. Of course, I didn't know she was a female or if she was even alive at that point, so without hesitation, I drive into the median to turn around and help. Well, I have a 4x2 truck with around 1000lbs more than normal in it and I drive right into the Kansas mud. I drive for about a half mile in all of that until I get to her. Well, she couldn't drive her truck out, so I got it out after about 7 stops and starts. I had it in 4lo and it was tough. As I was standing outside talking to her, I was sinking in the mud myself, so I was thinking, "Great, now my truck is stuck for good." But, to my delight, I got my truck out without having to back up. It was a fairly steep incline that I had to climb, but I was able to do it with ease with my Revos. Great tires. They're already worth the $600 that my dad paid for them. He likes them so much that he's putting a set on his 4Runner. If you guys have a chance, check out the Revos next time you're considering tires. They are also one of the quietest A/T tires I've ever heard. Good stuff.
Revo's are a great tire and I would have bought them if they had the size that I wanted. They make them in a 31x10.50x15 but I wanted a 32x11.50x15 so I stuck with the BFG A/Ts and I love them. Great tires!
