Knocking C6 Transmission

Does anyone happen to know what could cause an C6 transmission to make a knocking sound at an idle. It makes this sound only sometimes. It makes this sound sometimes while in neutral and sometimes while in drive. Never both at the same time.

Remove the inspection plate and check the nuts that hold the torque converter to the flexplate, they might be loose.

I've heard flex plates knock when they crack around the bolt holes used to mount it to the crank.

Transmission engages hard on reverse. A little vibration and some knocking sounds on take off.
