I have the ever present windshield leak on my 67 4x4. It has leaked for years and I just never have figured out how to seal it up. I've had several windshield shops lok at it but all they do is squeeze sealant between the glass and the rubber. I realy think its leaking between the rubber and the cab lip that the rubber fits over. If I pull the windshield rubber down from inside the truck it is wet. Top of window of course. I think it runs down the sides and then into the corners of the floor. Anyone have any fixes?
you need to pull the windshield out and then reseal it with a new gasket and sealant (make sure the sealant they use is no drying black sealant) don't be surprised if by now the metal is rotted and you may have some repairs to do.

Yeh, if I pull the lip of the rubber down from inside I can see a little corrosion starting but its not too bad. So do I need to put the sealer on the cab lip or in the window rubber where it contacts the cab?
Before you pull the winduw if there is only surface rust clean it by scraping it out and blow air into it.Use a good silicone sealant.Put the sealant between the body and the rubber. Do only the top and sides.Doing the bottom will trap water. If your seal is in good shape that should keep the bottom sealed.Isuspect it's rusted out somewhere.Thats an easy fix for any good glassman.good luck

The seal is only about 4 yrs old. Most of the rust is surface rust. Are you saying to seal from inside the truck or from outside? I can pull the rubber back from inside and see the lip of the cab and it is only rusted in a couple places but not bad. Are you saying to seal it up from inside?
Seal it up on the outside between the body and the rubber seal.Keep the water out from the outside thats why you don't seal the bottom on the outside.it lets the water run out from the outside.
How on earth do you get any sealant between the rubber and the lip. I just don't see any way to get it in there with drip rail in the way. Would this be an instance where I may need to pull the window to seal it up?
not to sure if this if this is your problem but i had water dripping in my cab on my 76 and thought it was the winshield cause that is where it looked like it was comming from but it actually turned out to be the drip rail above the drivers door, there was a small rust hole and whenever it rained it would leak into the cab and follow the flange above the headliner and drip out in the cab by the upper lefthand corner by the windshield
Rust holes! These cab roofs are good for rotting out at the drip rail. If you want to fix it for good you will need to pull the windshield. look at my gallery "body shop pics" and you can see how bad mine was before it was fixed, above and below the drip rail. I didn't know it was this bad until the body guy pulled the windhield. Dumping lots of sealent will only be a temp fix, you got to clean up the rust and repair the holes. Good luck!
