Red face gass everywhere

i hope someone can help me. i have a 79 f150 with a 460 in it. and about 30 seconds after i start it gass comes out of my purge canaster. i have limited repair knowledge but i want to get it running as cheap as possible so i can sell it. can anybody help?

Stuck or leaky float valve in carb?

I agree, the float is sticking or has something in the needle and seat. It is coming from the carb vent tube that goes to the canister.

Even with limited repair knowledge, you should still be able to do a basic carb rebuild. Buy a rebuild kit and follow instructions, especially when it comes to cleaning the carb with compressed air. Use the new gaskets when reassembling.

OR

Grab a similar carb from a junkyard truck, bolt it on, and hope for the best! Especially if the engine size is the same, calibrations should be close.
