Delima - Hedmann versus Dynomax

I have been pricing some headers to replace my leaky manifolds. I looked at Summit Racing and decided between Hedmann and Dynomax. Hedmann's got life-time warranty for $40 more. And here I am thinking if I should spend the extra bucks to get the Hedmann's or just settle with the Dynomax and get a much needed fuel pump with the dollars saved. I am not getting ceramic coated (wayyyy costly for my budget !)

Question is, are Hedmann's worth the extra bucks? Also, does headers provide any noticable gas saving (require this answer to pacify spouse !)?

Hedmann says that if I use heat wraps, I will void the warranty. I was kind of planning on doing that to keep heat down. Unless you guys think that heat is not bad enough to require wraps.

As always, any help is greatly appreciated !

since your not going to get tehm coated...they will rust out in a few years anyway..so i woudl get the cheapest ones possible...also expect them to warp and leak unless you go with some deadsoft gaskets. they will increase mileage a bit depending on the vehicle and engine.

heat wraps keep heat down, but they also create the perfect environment for rust

Vehicle is a 1979 F100 with 302 engine.

That's a good point you made there about rusting out.

I once saw in the Trucks! series about some clamps that actually prevents wraping. Can't remember what they are. When you say deadsoft gaskets are you refering to a brand?

Regarding the heat wraps, I am trying to decide the trade off - deal with the heat and forget heat wraps or get heat wraps knowing that rusting is inevitable.

heat wraps may cut down on heat in the engine compartment, but they also keep the heat inside the pipes. I have heard of people with headers that glow red. too much heat constrianed.
