Has anyone gotten a muffler shop to in stall headers for them? Like Monroe, Mineke (sp)?
I went by a Minute Muffler here in town today, and they said they wouldn't install headers on my '97 4.6L...but they would do a cat-back. They also said they couldnt replace my stock cats with hi-flow units unless there is something wrong with the stock ones.
Anyone know of a national exhaust chain that will install headers-cats-mufflers?
no, but for an idea, you could ruin your cat converter so it'll be eligible for change. beat on it with a hammer and say you drove over a rock with not enough clearence.
The thing is...I dont have the time to do this. This is my daily driver, and I have nothing else to get around with, and it will take me at least a day if everything goes right. If the manifold bolts round off or snap off inside, or I just cant get to them....then that will set me back a lot. I know I could do it if I had the time...but time is the problem.

That is a good idea! But on second thought...all 4 (!) of my cats are above the tranny crossmember next to the frame. Aint no way a rock could get to them there...
Mabey a stick? or could I tell them my dog ate them?
Well...I got ahold of a shop that would install them...but it would take 6 hours and $300 of labor.....and that was just to put the headers on...not the whole system...
So...I think Im going to wait for a nice weekend and install them myself. I still have my motorcycle If I need to get around...
Why lie about it? Just beat them with a BFH and if they ask what happend just tell them there had to be something wrong with them to be replaced... I mean its YOUR truck, what are they going to do about it? Unless they just don't want the business.
Headers arent hard to install, just make sure you use quality gaskets.
