Server Problems??

for the last six months or so it seems as though it is harder and harder to log on to this website. Yesterday i tried all day and the only place I could go was the homepage. I thought when it first happened someone might do something about it, but after six months it seems as though it is getting worse. I don't know who is in charge of this, but with all the sponsers we have money shouldn't be a problem with upgrading. I sure hope this solved soon,

I'm with ya. I've started having problems getting into threads over the past couple weeks. I was surprised I could get into this thread. My surfing time on this site has definitely gone down due to this issue.

Interesting..
I visit this site throughout the day and very very very rarely have any issues getting on... Of course that's 0700 through 1900 Pacific time....

You might want to read this. It may help explain the problem. During busy times, I would recommend coping your post before submitting them. If they don't go through at least you won't have to retype everything.

I'm in Minnesota and log on daily. Admittedly every once in a while the server will crash, but normally things are very smooth.

Did you read this thread? https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=480174

The supporters do not just support this site (servers, etc.) Ken (the owner) needs to support his family and also has staff. They need paycheques too. Plus, it seems that many times (and I am not just saying you) but users on this site seem to complain about the slow server but don't want to help support the site. It is a great deal for $15.99. I signed up for 3 years $45.99 and got a free t-shirt as well.

It is worth it just to get rid of the advertising on the left hand side of the screen IMHO.

Amen to that. I figure that the first few months I looked around and surfed FTE to help solve problems and answer questions, saved me more than enough to pay my FTE membership. I also went with the 3 year membership and feel I got the best end of the deal. One cool looking tee shirt that I wear proudly. The first problem I had that brought me to FTE was my overhead console readout. Stealship told me a new one was the only way to fix it. After a search on FTE, I found the free way to fix it and saved several hundred bucks. I said this on another tread and I will say it again. I think becoming a FTE Supported is one heck of a deal. And as far a the busy server thing, just be cool about it, It just means others like yourself is wanting to find out something about their Ford. And yes, supporters have to wait to. One thing I have learned to do is copy my post before submitting, just incase it don't go. Might save you some typing.

I've noticed it's the "non supporters" doing that. Big shocker eh?

as for the OP, last time i counted, fte only had 50 some sponsors.

Just a observation on my part, at times it does seem slow, and this is during off rush times I don't know of the eight other forums Im on none of them charge or solicte money for supporters. Snowest, Hardcore sledders , Arcticchat, Maixium Sledding, Snowmobile world, Atv world, Diesel stop, Power stroke flat rate tech, Don't get me wrong I appreciate this resource to learn about Ford trucks!!!! It would be worth it to be a "supporter".

If using IE try dumping all temp internet files and log out of the FTE server. I did this last week and have been trouble free after experiencing the slow down.

As for becoming a supporter
on the home page its states

Join Our Site - Its free, quick and easy!

I did not know the little logo that says FTE club at the top of every page was a link until just the other day
If you would like us to become supporters then you should have a small ad that says

If you enjoy our site - become a supporter

I did not even know that this option was available until I started experiencing a slow down and was told in not so many words if I became a supporter I would not be having these problems. I could go on but I would get replys like this

I've noticed it's the "non supporters" doing that. Big shocker eh?

Thanks for the advise on clearing the temp files I will try and see if that helps. I can assure you that I have the same busy server as any one else does. As far a the supporter/non supporter thing goes, i think it is a personal choice and the site is free for all to use and hope it will continue to be. I became a supported because if my $15.99 per year will help keep it up and running, then I am glad to help. I have saved that amount many times over due to this site and the great members and supporters found here. I have also suggested to some of the dealers/suppliers I have talked to when ordering parts and supplies that they check FTE out and consider becoming a sponsor. This is just my 2 cents and I want to thanks all members(supporters or not) for all the help I have received. Oh Yeah, like I said earlier, the 3year deal $45.99(my choice and the price of a decent steak dinner for 2) gets you a really nice looking FTE T-Shirt . What ever choice you make, thanks for being here and helping others answer thier questions and solve thier problems.

Do any of those forums have over 300,000 registered users?

Wow... the advertisers that pay to be here may not like your statement above. I actually like the ads and see who is new and what the "hot promotion" is!!!

I have clikced on their links and inquired about stuff due to the ads.... so I guess being a non-supporter directly to FTE is not as bad as some make it sound.... as I am supporting or trying to support the ads and companies I see on my screen when I visit FTE.

Thanks,

Jeff

Well, I would assume they know the ads will not be there if users become supporters. Also, we do see the List of Sponsors at the top of the page still.
