forums server is way slow

Anyone else having trouble surfing the forums. I get into the superduty forum and when I click on a thread it just seems to hang forever. It seems like this started about 5 days ago.

Ken is constanly upgrading the servers, but it ain't cheap to do so. The forum is growing almost faster than he can keep up with it.

Also, he's been doing some work on the system lately and at times things can be a little slower while the work is in progress.

generally, when there is problems like that, Ken already knows. Some time in the past, he had stated that he gets a notification for every server too busy notice given out. Most times, he is either working at fixing the problem, or the problem is that he is working the system, to fix problems or upgrade. Sometimes we just have to be patient... I know, I have to get my fix, and it is annoying when I can't get right in there, but I'll manage somehow....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What users NEED to do it buy a ClubFTE membership to change their server needs and to try and help offset the costs of bandwidth.
There are benefits to FTE supporters (those that pay a small gratuity for something they appreciate)
Ken spends Thousands of dollars to give things for free to people and then they complain.
When all they have to do is get $15.99 out to pay for a years membership
Other ways to decrease bandwidth is:
1) to get people to USE the EDIT feature instead of wasting bandwidth by making mulitiple posts (un-necessary increasing post count) which includes their full information again & again instead of adding 1 or 2kb of info by using the EDIT
2) Users Stop using the Quote feature un-necessarily in a wasteful way when a simple Addressing the letter to the personwill work.
How many times have you seen a person quote 50 lines of text and a pic , only to comment...."I like it " or I agree" ?
How about talking to them about saving bandwidth ...instead of asking the owner to spend more money ?
Technical reasons for what you mention.
Ken shuts down certain sections of FTE during an un-specified time to do maintenance on the site.
The Search feature is one of them.
*NOTE: Ken does everything in his power to keep FTE up and running at its peak everyday 24/7.
Knowing this !
IMO, There shouldn't be any complaints about FTE whatsoever.
Also, FTE has a feature called a support ticket to feild tech problems tyoyu may have with the site.
Access is through the MISC tab in the silver bar acroos the top of the page.
Yeah, if you feel like you want more from the site, it's a great idea to buy your ClubFTE membership. I did, and they were even nice enough to send a thank-you letter and bumper sticker that I proudly sport on the back window of my pickup. He could've used that extra buck towards a jingle jar for a new raptor hard drive, but they didn't.
Do site supporters still get the error message 'server too busy..'??
I've also gotten that message plenty of times in the past few days.
I wish the edit feature didn't turn off after 60 mins, sometimes theres thing you want to add that you don't need to post again, but you can't because the time runs out.
I find that quoting the user makes reading and responding a lot easier to do also, especially if what they say is on another page... thats how all the other forums i visit operate.
edit: And I don't think anyone is necessarily complaining, maybe just wondering whats going on and making a suggestion to better the site for everyone
That is fine. But users do NOT need to quote a post directly above theirs. If you were to respond to this post right after me and click the quote button instead of reply then THAT is a waste of bandwidth.
I am not sure what the problem is and that is why I posted this thread to see if it was just my system I Really don't think I needed to be scolded as some ungrateful newbie user but as it is now the site unusable. I had to hit the refresh button at least 20 times before I could see page 2 of this post and I have a killer cable connection.
I just counted the list of forums do you really need 89 of them
Like the others said, the ClubFTE membership is a great thing to get. I will be purchasing mine again soon after I get a couple of bucks. Being a poor college student stinks.
Edit: Woohoo, I just purchased my membership
