YzRacer,
I think kicking a gasket out of the truck early in the game can be a blessing for sure, but I think you have to be friendly with a FoMoCo service writer/service manager, diesel tech, etc. to make it happen. Speaking of blessings, hope you get your share, thanks for your a$$ kicking service, and come back safe.
Thanks for the info SoCal. It seems like it would be a tough job pulling the cab. I think I could work with a dealer to get a better head gasket installed, the only question is how do I get my head gasket to fail asap? Best thing seems to me is having it fail while stock and working with a dealer to get it fixed the way you want, then mod the crap out of it as you please! Another thing I notice is everyone seems to talk like the 03 and 04 models are the worst with head gaskets..... but a few 05 have failed as well. Is there a better chance that my 2005 model won't puke?
I have seen quite a few 05's, and just recently 2 06's that lost headgaskets. I think they are all susceptible when run hard or used to tow hard, but I have heard of some pretty hard running trucks that are doing good.... so far.
