I have a 1992 f250 7.3l none turbo diesel. I have been doing an engine rebuild/upgrade on it. So far I have machined the block and the cylinders had to be bored .20 over. New pistons bearings gaskets so on. The heads have been rebuilt and I'm getting ready to have my cam ground but i need to find a turbo 1st that will work on this truck. Fabricating is no problem. I've done it plenty. I don't want to buy the banks or hypermax kit and I'd prefer not a 1993 oem turbo. I just need to know other turbos that can be controlled to give max psi for my engine with good performance and not blow up my engine. I also am putting arp head studs on it. IV been searching for months about this but there never seems to be clear answers.

Ya I've read a majority of them. I didn't look into upgrading the stock one though. I just wana get a good turbo that won't blow up my engine that's under $800 preferably.

 

How much fuel are you going to run? There are a couple guys that have modified the stock ATS kit to use a different Turbo...If you have fab skills you can build your own kit.. I built mine for a HX 40w running 90cc for My Motor Home. But I had more room to put all the plumbing for the intercooler and stuff like that... It makes 18psi intercooled boost. Ok so I got a stock turbo for the 93 7.3l to put on my truck. Any tips or tricks you guys have for me? Pictures and suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks for your help guys!
