Ford 8.8 Questions
I have a 1992 F150 with an 8.8 and I am doing a 4x2 to 4x4 conversion and I have most of this completed. I have 2.73 rear gears in the 1992 F150 and the rear end definetly needs to be rebuilt. I also have a 8.8 with 3.50 gears (which match the front diff that I put in) in the truck that I am getting the engine from, which happens to be a 1988. In the 1992, I do not have a speedometer pickup in the transmission, so I am guessing that the electronic speedo runs off the VSS in the rear diff. The 1988 diff also has the VSS in the diff, but also a mechanical speedo pickup on the tranny. Both trucks have the rear abs and both have the VSS on the diff. Will I be able to swap the diffs without having issues with my speedo?

Yeah, it will work fine. Prior to 1992, the VSS only served the ABS computer. When they started using it for the speedo as well nothing changed but wiring. It's the same part even.
BTW, 3.50 is not a gear ratio for an 8.8" axle. You probably have a 3.55. Just so you know.
