I just bought a 2000 ranger with a 3.0. Everyone I have seen one ebay with a 3.0 says flex fuel. I don't have a owners manul to look at. Is there a way I tell off the serial numbers or all 2000 ranger with a 3.0 flex fuel. What does flex fuel mean. Can I run e85 in it. If I can what are the pro's and con's about it. Do you losse horse power or fuel mileage?
Yes, flex fuel means you can run E85. I think most flex fuel Rangers will have that little leaf insignia on the tailgate. At least the Ranger I used to own had it...I'm not totally sure, but I think the VIN has a V if its a 3.0 flex fuel vehicle (U if it's not).
i have a 2000 ff 3.0 and it can burn e85, altho i havnt yet. when running e85 u will lose some mileage but you are supposed to be compensated by cheaper gas
thanks, it is flexfuel. I don't know if I'm going to try it just yet. I think I will do a little more reading on it. I have check some of the forms on this site but I really don't have the time to look at all of them. Is there a post that explains it or someone that has ran it.
