Installed an airaid intake on my 06 before i read all the negative stuff about aftermarket filters and intakes. I got a little worried but before i did it i ran it by the techs at the local dealer and they said if i did the proper maintanence it would be fine. For extra protection i bought the bag-looking thing that goes over the filter for a little insurance. The intake has been on the truck for bout 10k miles and every week i take the filter off and rub the inside of the intake with a white rag and so far there hasnt been any dirt, dust, or debris on the rag. The truck operates in pretty clean conditons. I love the extra turbo whine with the intake.
Be careful guys, cheaper is not always better! I've said it before and I'll say it again, we paid a lot of bucks for our trucks and it just doesn't make sense to cut corners and compromise the motors.
I let my brother-in-law talk me into swapping my factory air filter with this replacement hunk that is cheaper to buy replacement filters for, I want my factory setup back after reading this. Where is the place to buy? I need the housing and the whole shooting match.

Might try looking at the local salvage yard for most of the pieces. Otherwise it is a dealer item.
I happened to look at a K&N catalog the other day and for the 6.0 it states a power increase of, I think, 12 hp at 3500 rpm's. I was left wondering how often we're running our trucks at 3500 rpm's, I don't care what you're pulling! It might make you feel good when you pop the hood but I can't see the intake being worth that kind of money.
The tech folder has a write up on the procedure with all working links
Sorry for being so dense, but exactly which of these links contains the air filter changing procedure?

Most folks agree that the factory Donaldson air filter is the best unit for a stock 6.0L. Many knowledgeable folks that have heavily modded their trucks still have the factory air system (proving them to be capable of supporting 500 hp or maybe even more). The "Relative Filtration Efficiency" is 99.97% (link below). The filter is capable of holding 3 - 3.5 lbs of dirt and needs to be changed only as the filter minder indicates, however you will get a light on your dash panel if you go too long. Most do not find the need to change the filter until 50k miles or more (some have gone up to 100k). The change interval does depend on driving conditions.

The link was with the "Diesel Technician Society" - just under the verbiage that said "Filter Change Procedure".
It now appears to be broken in the Tech Folder post. Sorry about that. I'm pretty sure it was working in the original post. I will contact folks to get it fixed OR post the working link in the Tech Folder Thread.
