One more thing...For me if $$$ were that tight I don't know that I would make keyless entry a priority. But that is just me.

Yeah, I figured out that remote start is not that important either, especially after losing a great deal on eBay and almost breaking my keyboard in 2 halves

I just got a window module and I am still waiting for keyless entry for Bronco and keyless entry conversion for E-150.

If you are confident that you can perform the installation yourself the following information should help you out a bit.

12volts yellow + ignition harness
Starter red/lt. blue + ignition harness
Ignition red/lt. green + ignition harness
Power Lock pink/yellow either kick panel

Notes: Negative trigger on the keyless-entry versions and 5-wire on all the rest.

ESSENTIAL to use drivers switch when testing for switch and motor sides. The wires are much easier to access on the passenger side due to the E-brake blocking the drivers kick.

Parking Lights+ brown lt switch or dr kick
Door Trigger black/blue + driver kick panel
Factory Alarm Disarm dk.green/purple -
Tachometer tan/yellow AC at coil

Notes: Diesel tach is a white/pink and diesel wait to start wire is black/pink (-). Both wires are located at the PCM or the instrument cluster.

Horn Trigger dk. blue - steering column

This wiring information is being provided free of charge on an "as is" basis, without any representation or warranty. It is your responsibility to verify any circuit before interfacing with it using a digital multimeter.

As far as choosing a manufacturer to go with, that's up to you. I am particular to the products manufactured by Directed Electronics; Viper, Avital, Sidewinder, Clifford, Rattler... Heck, just about anything with a snake type name. Anyway, I've dealt with them for quite a few years and have had no real complaints with their products so far. I would however suggest that if you think that at some time in the future you might consider upgrading to an alarm or remote start, try and stick with a brand that utilizes the same or similar harnesses throughout their line. Directed products do just that, and it really is nice to not have to replace every connection when you decide to upgrade. If you are going to be using a keyless entry to remotely operate the rear window you'll need at least one extra channel, possibly two if you want to have both up and down control.

Some of the replys have mentioned bypassing the factory keyless, this is not necessary. In fact the aftermarket unit will work better if it works in conjunction with the factory unit, less splicing better electrical flow.

If you have any questions when you get ready to install your choice of products send me an e-mail. I should be able to answer any questions that you have.

Later,
Mike
