I recently bought a 1999 F-250 XLT 7.3L Supercab, 142,000 miles 8' bed, 2WD, 6-spd manual transmission. I bought remotes for keyless entry thinking it would have it being a XLT with power locks and windows, but after following instructions that came with the remotes and also on videos, it doesn't seem that I have keyless entry. Is it really possible that I don't have keyless entry even though it's a XLT with power locks and windows, or is the module maybe disconnected? I ask because several modifications were made to the ignition system, as it had no key when I bought the truck and the clutch sensor has been removed and replaced with a push button.
I had the same issue. Ford told me if I had electric locks in my XLT I could add a remote keyfob. Couldn't get it to work so ford booked me in and said the technician could make it work. The technician phoned me and said my truck wasn't built to accept a keyfob. I ended up getting an aftermarket alarm that also had a keyfob option.
