Any more info on the truck ? crewcab, supercab, regular cab?
What gear ratio?
What yr?
What tranny?
And What kind of driving do you do
And Where do you live (elevation)
Lots of things determine the mpg's you will get
I'll give you a range from 10 towing to 17 highway and anything in between!
Now you should really do a search around here because this has been discussed so many times before.
That alot of guys will not even answer your post.
Steve here... my 06 4x4 has only 500 miles on it. I got 13mpg combined today on non reformulated. That was 60/40 hyw city. I have a 5.4 3:73 gear.
I started the thread below, last month with the same concern. Lots of great information... Everyone on this forum has been very helpful.
Steven
I have a 2001 F 250 SC longbed, 5.4 engine, 3.73 rear, 285/16 tires, plow package springs in the front and 2" add a leafs in the rear, with over 68000 miles. I get 13.5 mpg average, less than 25% of it being highway miles. You will hear people say that the 5.4 is underpowered, but that is not my experience. I haul many full loads of fresh cut firewood (mostly oak) each year, and have plenty of power to spare. A friend has a F350 shortbed with the v 10 and doesn't work it all. He told me he gets about 10 mpg. Everyone has their own preferences, but I'm happy with the 5.4
I run 50 when empty and 70 when loaded. I think even 50 may be a bit hard for my F250 as the tires are starting to show signs of wearing more in the centers.
you should get about11- 12 city and 13-14 highway. the v10's are close to that. small motor big truck don't look for the sales man's bs talk of the moon to get you to buy it.

Thats funny, it is exactly what I get with my V10 most of the time. perhaps .5 mpgs less.
What kind of gas mileage should I be getting on a 4wd F250 with a V8?
Whatever you get can be improved by keeping the tac under 2000 rpm at all times. Yes, I know that seems slow on the highway (~68mph in mine) but it will make a big difference. Try it some time if you really want better mileage.
Ditto to the above. If you can keep the rpms on the highway under 2000 rpm you start to creep up to 15-16 mpgs for those long trips right up to the first hill when you have to put your foot into it.
I've got about the worst combination for gas mileage - F-250, CC, SWB, 4WD, V-10, auto. Get 10-11 all the time in mixed driving. Can scare 12 mpg if I'm a pokey-joe.
