I have a `99 F-250sc, Im getting 17.6, my brother has a 97 F-350 crewcab and claims 20.1, its mostly depends on how you drive it. your mileage may very. Carter
Well I can honestly say I have driven my Powerstroke 112,000 miles and have yet to use even ONE gallon of GAS.
but seriously I get around 14-16 mpg in california (using california fuel).I drive about 70-80 mph on open freeways, and drive about 15% city/85%freeway. out of california I can get up to 19mpg. I have a 4x4 so it would be better if I had gotten a 2wd.
I have a 99 Powerstroke and have consistently gotten between 19 and 20 mpg "around town", town being Dallas, TX. That means quite a bit of highway driving, with some amount of running to the store, etc.
I realized after I sent my first reply that it wouldn't help much without the following information: my truck is a F250SD, 3.73 rear, manual transmission. I usually drive on the highway at 60 mph or so. I'm taking a trip this weekend to Arkansas, pulling a 29' Airstream for the first time, so I'll let everyone know what kind of mileage I get.
I have a '99 F-350 SD SC PSD 3.73 with about 1K mile on it. Towed my 32 ft. Travel Trailer which weighs about 6500# to the Smokeys. I averaged 17 mpg. I have averaged around town about the same.
I have a 2000 PSD,4x4, crew cab, long bed, with an auto trany and I get 12 to 13 mpg around town, 15 to 17 on the open road. I have what the dealer calls "One that don't get the good mileage" (LOL) Best of luck with your purchase...
I have a 2001 f350 sc 6 speed with a 3.73 and I am only getting around 11 or 12 mpg I have always heard that the diesel gets good fuel mileage but I have yet to see it in mine I still love my truck though.
I have A 99 PSD w/3.73 Auto short bed two wheel drive with 66,000 miles on it. It did not do well until it had 3,500 Miles on it. It now gets 20 21 miles per gal. highway empty, I never drive it at home, I RV and pull A 30` fifth wheel with it, and it gets 10 1/2 MPG running 70 miles per hour. I drove it from Corpus Christi, Tx. to Carlsbad, Ca. MT the speed limit was 75 I set the cruise on 82 and it got 18 mpg for the entire 3,000 miles. I have logged every gal that has ever been put in it along with the odometer reading and the number of gal. The 20 to 21 is not running at 82 mph, you must stay below 75 to get that mileage. I wish you the best with your truck!
Wife bought a 202 F-250 psdiesel 4x4 crew cab about two weeks ago and came home getting 14.4 MPG. I got in it and drove out west and back over a period of six days (3000 miles) and came in getting 18.5 MPG. I sure wished I could afford one, for myself.
