The automatic headlights on my '06 F-150 go off when it is still fairly dark in the AM and don't come on until well past dusk in the PM. Dealer says there is no adjustment. Has anyone else had this problem and if so was it fixable? I know I could just operate manually but it is easier just to put on auto and forget.
I once read about a fella who removed his sensor and painted? the inside of it to make it darker. The sensor thought it was darker than it was and turned the lights on sooner.
You need to allow some light to get in there or your lights will always be on.
Gotbeer, areyou sure the red light is the sensor? I dont think it is.
The red LED is not literally the sensor, but the sensor is in the same housing. Those photo sensors can vary as to their sensitivity.
If you're still under warranty take it to the dealer and tell them something to the effect that you're conerned about your SAFETY because the lights don't come and stay on properly, then suggest that they replace the sensor.
