Hey thanks. I hope that is the problem, I imagine that the switch assembly is pricey even from the junk yark.

I fought with mine for months, replaced the dash switch, would work intermittingly. Had the switch tested at the the connection to the window motor, was told it was a bad tailgate switch. Finally so fustrates, I was going to bypass the tailgait altogether, straightwired it and still nothing. Discovered that it was a short in the connection between the motor and lead from the tailgate. Bypassed that and been good since.

I just fixed mine the other day. The tailgate switch never worked and then the inside switch just quit working. I found the connector inside the tailgate was corroded pretty bad. After I got it working with the inside switch, I decided to do a little exploring and try to fix the tailgate switch. Long story short; it turned out to be the heavy black/white wire that runs from the fusebox to the tailgate switch. It had power all the way back to where it runs beside the tailgate. Spliced a new wire in and works like new. And all these years I always thought it was the tailgate switch.
