Hey guys, I have finally made up my mind. I am going to get a 2002 F250 or F350 SRW. Few years newer than the 99, and I like the added features like heated seats and telescoping mirrors. My question is, is there any problems inherent to the 2002 that I should look for?? I have found several trucks, with mileage in the 90,000 - 120,000 range. Just wondering what I should look for. Thanks for your help!!
Bill
I have an 02 F350 6spd 4x4 PSD with 104,000 miles and have had no problems (owned since new). With the exception of 2 CMP sensors and squeaky stock belt (replaced with a GatorBack).... the truck has been flawless!!
Other than PMRs I don't know any serious problems and I beleive that the conclusion here on the FTE that PMRs are only a problem if you plan on making alot power mods. Since you have had a PSD before you know already most of the minor stuff that's common to all the PSDs tranny, CPS, leaky air box, and the like.

Appreciate the info guys! I am aware of the PMR's, and it shouldnt concern what I have planned. The tranny, CPS, and air box I am aware of as well. The Kwik mod will be the first one I do, as well as a leveling kit. If anyone has anything else I should look at, please chime in. The one I want to look at this weekend is a 02 Crewcab, Short box, 4x4 Lariat with 116,000 miles. The price is right, and is close to me. Thanks guys! The knowledge base here is endless!!!
Okay, how about anything in general to the Superdutys that I should look at. I know I should jack the truck up and check any play in the ball joints, what else am I missing?? Thanks!
i would swab the coolant (not from the recovery tank, but the petcock at the bottom driver's side of the radiator) and see if the coolant is in good shape.
