I have come across a 2002 F150 SuperCab XLT 4x4 with the FX4 package. The engine is a 5.4L and it looks like the truck has the factory tow option. Mileage is around 31,000. Brakes are new.
What should I be looking for when checking the truck?
The price varies by what aera in the country you are in. MPG is any where from 12 to 18 depending upon how you drive. The question I would ask is why new brakes at only 31,000 miles normally last until 50 or 60,0000 miles. look underneath to see if it has seen alot of off roding that will have a lot for how the vehicle will hold up.
Had to get new front brakes on my 02 at 25k miles, so have 2 friends with the same truck, so this is not unheard of.
How about tires? I just replaced the stock Wrangler RTS's (junk), so there's about $750. Something to consider.
Used prices around here (Denver) are pretty low due to all the incentives on new ones, combined with the gas prices. I would guess around $17k for on 02 Scab in really nice condition, give or take for options such as buckets, power seat, etc.
Mileage on my 02 and my previous 99 has always been 13-16 mpg empty, 10-12 towing 5k pounds.
I am told the tires look good, but they are Goodyear.
Some other features I found out:
- Limited-slip differential
- Bedliner
- Soft tonneau cover
- 17in. wheels
- Power seats
- Power adjust pedals
- Two tone paint
- Auto headlights
- Step bars
I have not seen the truck yet. It is at a dealer, friends of mine, I am relying on what they tell me. The truck appears very clean, and its possible that the previous owner did not tow with it or work it hard. Price looks like it would be under $18K.
This truck would be a replacement for my 1995 F150.
my brakes were also done at 28k, same truck sounds like, but i did do lots of towing (snowmobiles) and utilty trailer full of wood, im sure that helped burn em up .... this truck is going for around 15k to 17k around here (Detroit) wher the car biz is falling apart fast!!
