Well today i was coming home from the shooting range, was in OD and going 50mph (1400 RPM) and attempted to climb the hill i drive up every day. Half way up the hill my 7.3 sounded like it shutoff then it came back to life, kinda sounded like i let off the go pedel then stepped back on it. After that sound i looked up at my gauges and the pyro was climbing fast, when i reached the top of the hill pyro was at 1200 so i let off the gas immediatly. As i coasted till the pyro dropped to 600 the engine was stumbling, then i gave it some pedal and sounded like normal. After limping it home i let it idle for a good 10 min while i was checking everything under the hood. When the temp dropped down to 200(normal) i drove it around the block and it heats up FAST, with the RPMs at 1300 in 3rd temps get to 700 degrees(abnormal) in a few seconds. But if i just sit in the drive way at take the RPMs to 2000 the temps wont go above 400 degrees(normal).
Sorry for the long read but im pretty frustrated with the issue at hand. What do you guys think i should do?
Have you ever changed the CPS??? that can cause it to stumble. Probley already looked at the airfilter and made sure it isnt clogged. Hmmm, wish I had some more ideas.
Is it smoking? What color smoke? It may be the CPS, but I don't think that explains the EGT rise. Possible it is an injector O Ring allowing fuel to dump into a cyl, but that doesn't explain the cutout of power.
Havnt changed the CPS, yet. The water temp isnt the problem, its the exhaust temps getting to hot to fast. No smoke out of the ordinairy, i just installed my kwik filter, and changed my fuel filter last week. Ive checked the oil for fuel, chunks, abnormal smells...ect but found noting.
I started it up today and it sounded normal so i took it around the block again, the exhaust temps still get to 700 in no time. Maybe i should check my turbo??? I also checked all my boots and exhaust tubing for signs of stress and cant find any thing. Maybe theres a bad sensor somwhere making the engine dump more fuel then its supposed to??? Ive only got 2000 miles (66050)on it and its already giving me problems.
Don't think its the cps. However, it don't hurt to have an extra one on hand so you could change it and try. The worst thing is you will have an extra one. Have you checked the EBPV. Make sure the linkage is still hooked up and it is not stuck closed or partially stuck. Do you still have a muffler? Stock exhust? What other Mods?
did you check your boost guage? it almost sounds like a turbo problem where the boost isnt high enough making the engine work harder than it should. did you hear any boost leaks or any other strange noises. but i dont think a turbo problem would cause the stumbling
Well...i checked the EBPV and it was stuck....stuck very goooooood. I dont know how it got stuck but i got it broke loose. Ill be doing the Wicked Wheel soon and ill take a gander at it then but for right now im just happy i can drive my truck again!!! Thanks zx250 for the thought.

What would cause it to get stuck???
Your welcome,
I was told mine stuck because I failed to allow it to cool down before I shut the engine off. I don't know for sure.
