I have a '99 Ranger XLT, 2.5, 5-spd, 110,000 miles. I've seen you guys talk about lubing the shifter to make it shift easier. Does this have anything to do with the shift rails? I plead ignorant when it comes to transmissions, but I'm learning. Any help would be appreciated. When I "lube" the shifter, where am I putting the grease???? Also, read the thread on the shift rail plugs...my trans doesn't leak(not yet anyway)...
i don't recall anything about lubing the shifter. do you mean to say replacing the bushings in the shifter? if not, please post a link to the thread about the lubing of the shift because i must have missed it.
El Conquistador, I stand corrected!! Can they be replaced ? Can I get them at the dealer, or is there a place that is cheaper, with the same quality as the oem part? I appreciate your input.. THANK YOU!!!

Bushings are stealership only parts. Also, it's wise to replace the tranny alignment pins on each side. I got mine from a tranny shop. I had to go that route.
I know my post won't go through if I directly mention RPS, but in the drivetrain forum, there is a sticky of what parts need to be ordered. You probably only need the guts from the shifter ball on up. Mine were good....but I had nothing in sight above the ball and the pins were sheared, which makes for an adventure while being able to spin the shifter around at will!
You really need just one of each if your bushings under the shifter are okay. Take these numbers to a stealer and a helpful parts guy will let you see what I'm mentioning. All the parts cost me $75ish, but I have the extra bushings (lower guts not needed) left over for future use. Oh well.
I talk about RPS a lot, and it gets posted, and not always in a good way. I don't think KENOO minds as long as your trying to help a guy out, or girl. Even so, I'm sure there's some good tranny people here at FTE that will chime in shortly!

1. Hmmm, I haven't been able to get anything with links to RPS into a post to appear lately. We agree, though, that help is help where ever you can get it. If someone or a bunch of someones between the two forums has had some personality (or lack thereof) conflict, well, I don't know about it, don't care about it, and since neither pays my bills, I'm not hearing it out. These two forums are the only ones I have been able to keep an account without the forums getting hacked and everything getting lost over and over and over again. All I know is a message about a moderator looking the post over comes up and that's the end of it...I'm not miffed necessarily, but that's what I'm getting these days.
2. Yes, Ebay has the kits, but if someone is in a circumstance like mine where the whole shifter and ball assembly spins around and jamming the shifter down into the rails is getting tough....don't wait. I don't mind saving the money either, but....
To Everyone who took the time to reply to my thread , I appreciate it sincerly. This Is one of the reasons I thoroughly enjoy this site-the people are so willing to help when someone needs info on a repair, upgrade, or mod, and/or where to get the parts. THANK YOU!!!
