Well I finally got rid of the cheapo sub in the F-250 which never worked right and got myself a Kenwood 10" Self powered sub to work with my kenwood cheap head unit. Sounds nice, but now it's time for the ranger. I found a smaller 6 1/2" really really compact subwoofer that is designed to fit under a seat, however I had a few questions. Will adding this overtax my stock radio or wiring? Do i risk anything burning up or anything? This one is self powered too. Will the 6.5" be able to respond quick but provide more low end than my speakers are capable of? For mounting are there any suggestions for no drill mounting?? THANKS IN ADVANCE!!
It really depends on the product you're talking about here. If you post a link or where you saw this 6-1/2" mid-bass sub then we could help ya out. Adding this (if it is self-powered) to your stock radio, shouldn't hurt anything and I don't think you'd be at risk at burning anything up.. as long as the amp for it has line-in inputs (aka high-level inputs). But as far as the characteristics of the speaker itself.. the 6.5" won't be adding an awefull lot of super low end bass, it's frequenzy range is probably somewhere around 60Hz-2.5kHz or so, so it will be there to give you the sound of bass, but not give you the mirror shaking impact of the lower frequencies.
If you would like to have the shaking impact without making your system so loud that it wakes everyone up when you drive by there are alternatives.. if you want to know about that, then drop me a PM.
